Experience one of the most scenic bike rides in the Jungfrau Region. The tour begins with a relaxed ride through the Lauterbrunnen Valley, passing the iconic Staubbach Falls and the impressive Mürrenbach Falls before reaching Stechelberg. From there, the cable car takes you up to Gimmelwald, where your panoramic alpine adventure begins. Ride across the beautiful plateau through the car-free villages of Gimmelwald and Mürren before continuing to Winteregg. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. E-bikes are highly recommended for a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
To get started with your ride from Imboden Bike, turn right onto the main road. After around 400 meters the main road turns left downhill - here you drive straight ahead here you drive straight ahead into 'Alte Stechelbergerstrasse'.
You have reached the Staubbach Falls. With 297 meters the highest free falling waterfall in Switzerland. While you are visiting the waterfall., remember to lock your bikes.
After the waterfall, stay on the tarmac road towards ‘Stechelberg’.
Drive straight ahead here and follow the paved road.
The tarmac road turns left here. Carry on straight ahead along the gravel track / keep to the right-hand side of the river until you reach the bridge to the cable car station.
Cross the bridge here to reach the cable car station.
Take the cable car up to Gimmelwald.
From here you take your bikes on the cable car up to Gimmelwald.
Timetable
Start your ride in Gimmelwald by leaving the cable car station and follow the paved road up the hill.
Continue straight through Gimmelwald and follow the paved road uphill.
Keep to the right and drive uphill towards Mürren.
Stay on the tarmac road all the way to Mürren.
In Mürren drive straight in direction to Winteregg.
Leave Mürren and continue to Winteregg.
Turn left and drive uphill here. Do not continue on the path along the train tracks as cycling is strictly forbidden there!
Drive straight here. After a short downhill you will reach Winteregg.
You have reached Winteregg! You may enjoy the panorama swing in the backyard of the Winteregg Restaurant or take a little break there.
This is your turning point, next you will drive back to Gimmelwald. Alternatively you could continue to Grütschalp and take the cable car down to Lauterbrunnen from there.
Important: Return as you came. Keep to the right as cycling is strictly forbidden on the path to the left!
Keep going straight here, follow the gravel road. Once you reach the train tracks, follow the path parallel to the train tracks until you reach Mürren.
When you reach Mürren drive past the train station and turn left here.
On the junction turn left to go back down to Gimmelwald.
Stay on the tarmac cycle road all the way back down to Gimmelwald.
Drive straight into Gimmelwald to take the cable car back down. Do not drive right and down to Stechelberg, this downhill section is a very steep trail and we do not recommend it.
Drive straight through Gimmelwald to reach the cable car station.
From here you take your bikes with the cable car back down to Stechelberg.
Timetable
After arriving in Stechelberg, cross the river again and turn right after the bridge to go back down to Lauterbrunnen.
Turn right after the bridge to go back down. Keep going straight until your reach Lauterbrunnen.
Once you reach Lauterbrunnen get back on the main road and follow it, until you reach Imboden Bike again. We hope you enjoyed your ride!
